Teams Maths Challenge

Posted on February 10, 2015

The Team Maths Challenge (TMC) is a national competition, run by the UK Maths Trust, with the aim of engaging and enhancing pupils’ mathematical thinking, communication and teamwork skills; click here for more details and materials from past competitions.  It is open to teams (one per school) of 4 students from Years 8 and 9, including no more than two from Year 9.

There is a regional final in Devon which this year will take place on Tuesday 10 March 2015 (during normal school hours) at Exmouth Community College.

Entries officially closed in December, but they are accepting a few last late entries, allocated on a first come first served basis.  The cost of entry is £30 for your team;  you can register by downloading an entry form from the TMC section of their website (www.tmc.ukmt.org.uk) and sending them your completed form with either:

  • A cheque for £30 made payable to ‘UKMT (Leeds)’, or
  • An official school purchase order from your finance office (you will then invoiced) – please note that they must receive the actual purchase order, not just the order number.

They can accept entries by post or, if sending your entry form with a purchase order, by fax (0113 343 5500).  If you plan to enter, please could you send a brief reply (n.j.bray@leeds.ac.uk) to let them know, as they are now finalising numbers.  However, they cannot reserve you a place until they receive your entry form with cheque or purchase order, so please send these asap after checking updated venue availability on their website by clicking here.  At the time of writing (6 February) there are also still places left at the heat at Millfield School, Street, on Wednesday 18 March 2015.
