The Poole Teaching School Alliance was successful in their bid to provide Maths Teacher Training (called Teacher Subject Specialism Training) to all schools in the local region for the school year 2015-16.
Following on from the existing model which has recruited 21 participants, a further opportunity to provide training for new participants has been made available through the new fast-track course which will run in the February half-term and Easter holidays 2016.
The course is designed to suit the needs of each participant. The course is free and open to teachers who would like to convert from their main subject to become Maths teachers. At the end of the course they will become fully qualified Maths teachers and will obtain both a Certificate in Mathematical Mastery and Masters Credits.
The course will include:
- Training sessions in Maths pedagogy at the Blandford School
- Online assessment tasks (completed in participant’s own time)
- Observations, support and feedback on delivery of Maths lessons at 2 points in the year
