Jurassic Maths Hub is delighted to have been selected to host a Secondary Shanghai exchange during 2018/19. The Castle School, Taunton, will be one of eight centres nationally to host an exchange. If you have not already done so please click on the appropriate date (at the bottom of this page) to book your place on the Showcase Lesson.
Refreshments will be available from 9am and the first lesson will start at 9.30am. You will observe two classes (one LPA Year 7 and one HPA Year 8) who have been working with the Shanghai teachers for around two weeks.
A feature of many Shanghai lessons is the use of Variation Theory and, in order that you get as much from the day as possible, we ask that before the day you read a chapter from Mike Askew’s Transforming Primary Mathematics which offers an overview of Variation. A scan of the chapter can be found here: Variation Theory - Mike Askew (2.4 MiB, 159 hits)

Please note that there is no parking at The Castle School. We recommend parking at Silk Mills Park and Ride and getting off the bus at the A38 stop, from which it’s a ten minute walk to the school. Alternatively, the Tangier Pay and Display Car Park is also a ten minute walk to the school. If you’re using public transport, The Castle School is approximately a one mile walk from Taunton Railway Station.
