The Post-ITT Mathematics SKE (Subject Knowledge Enhancement) course provides high-quality professional development to those teaching, or wishing to teach, mathematics at secondary and Further Education levels.
The aims of the course are to:
- Enhance your mathematical knowledge to give you confidence to teach Mathematics
- Inspire your enthusiasm for mathematics
- Provide you with motivating activities and tasks for teaching mathematics
- Train you to be able to deliver mathematics content up to GCSE Higher tier and AS level.
The SKE course is aimed at teachers with qualified teacher status in the state sector (including secondary and middle schools, Further Education Colleges, special schools and pupil referral units) who are already teaching or plan to teach some mathematics at secondary or Further Education level. The course is also suitable for those returning to teaching after a career break. For teachers meeting the criteria, this course is FREE through funding provided by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) and is run by the Poole Teaching School Alliance at Poole Grammar School. The course is administered by the Centre for Innovation in Mathematics Teaching, Plymouth University, which also provides the online assessment and opportunities to move onto Master’s degree modules.
