This is for primary schools who have previously taken part in a teaching for mastery Work Group and want to continue to deepen and embed their approach. The Programme is fully funded by the Maths Hub Programme so is free to participating school.

Who can take part?
This programme is for all schools in England who have previously engaged in a Teaching for Mastery Work Group, at any time over the past ten years. This includes schools in Developing Work Groups from 2015/16 to 2024/25 and schools in Embedding or Sustaining Work Groups in 2024/25 plus any schools hosting a TfM Specialist.
The Programme is fully funded by the Maths Hub Programme so is free to participating school.
What is involved?
Each participating school will identify their subject leader as the first point of contact, who will nominate staff to engage in different aspects of the Work Group and support them to contribute to developments across the school. The programme will start with a one to one meeting with the subject leader (and head teacher where possible) to discuss the strengths and areas for development within the school, in relation to Teaching for Mastery, and how the programme can support professional development across 2025/6.
Each school will continue to work alongside other schools to embed and refine teaching for mastery approaches in their school to benefit all pupils. Participants will work closely with their senior leaders to focus on key areas of curriculum development and professional learning.
The Work Groups will have an average of 12 schools as members, and will involve leaders and teachers working together over time, supported by a Mastery Specialist. Across the year, participants will collaborate to explore effective leadership, observe live teaching for mastery, implement aspects such as lesson design and refine systems to maximize pupil impact. These Work Groups are ongoing and schools participate year on year to strive towards improved pupil outcomes through embedding teaching for mastery principles.

NB: If your school is new to Teaching for Mastery then this is NOT the right Work Group for you. Please look to apply for the Teaching for Mastery Introductory Programme.
