Who can take part?
This opportunity is open to all schools participating in (Continuing) Teaching for Mastery Work Groups. It is not available to schools in Introductory Work Groups. Lead participants from Work Group schools will be two teachers – one each from Year 4 and Year 5. Support will also be given to maths leads and headteachers.
Date/Location
National Online and Local Work Group sessions throughout the year
What is the cost?
This is funded by the Maths Hubs Programme; there is no charge for participating schools.
There are limited places so each Maths Hub will use set criteria to allocate spaces to this Work Group.
What this programme offers
Professional development for lead teachers, supporting understanding of the teaching materials provided, exploring associated teaching pedagogies and developing their subject expertise in multiplicative reasoning. The programme supports pupils in KS2 to develop automaticity in multiplication and division facts as well as developing a deeper understanding of wider multiplicative concepts.
Expectations
Lead Teachers will engage in centrally-led online workshops, once a term and local hub-led sessions once a term. They will be expected to engage with teachers from other schools through a local online community to reflect on their practice and the progress of their pupils. They will also be asked to provide assessment data for four pupils, once at the beginning of the year and once at the end of the year.
NB. Schools will not require Rekenreks for this Programme.
