Who can take part?
Teachers of Core Maths in post-16 settings are welcome, whether their main subject is maths or another subject, provided they are in at least their second year of teaching the Core Maths qualification. Where appropriate, participants will be expected to work with colleagues in their own department to share their learning.
(Inexperienced Core Maths Teachers should visit our SKTM Core Maths Offer: specialist-knowledge-for-teaching-mathematics-core-maths-teachers-2026-27)
Online sessions, dates to follow
What is the cost?
The Developing Core Maths Pedagogy Work Group is fully funded by the Maths Hubs Programme and the AMSP so is free to participating state schools/colleges.
What this programme offers
These Work Groups give teachers opportunities, through collaboration and experimentation, to develop improved teaching approaches that support the open-ended problem-solving skills students need and to share these with departmental colleagues. Participants will design and trial classroom activities, sharing and reflecting on their experiences with others in the Work Group.
Expectations
Participants will be expected to work with colleagues in their own department. Schools/colleges must release participants to attend all Work Group sessions, and participants must attend all sessions, and complete activities between them.
